SENER provides 24/7 technical assistance for the Ferreira-Guedes-Sacyr Consortium for the excavation of the tunnel boring machines in the city of Fortaleza, in order to reduce the risks associated with excavation (to third parties, in terms of costs and time).

The project consists of building the east line of the Fortaleza Metro by using tunnel boring machines to excavate two tunnels approximately 7 m in diameter, with a length of 6 km each.

Executive Project of Phase 1 of the East Line of the Fortaleza metro includes:

  • Execution of the Underground Work of the tunnels using TBMs, from the shaft after the Chico da Silva Station to the Papicu Station, and a section after the Papicu trench to park the TBMs;
  • Execution of the construction work for the surface station of Tirol-Moura Brasil;
  • Execution of the construction work of the 4 underground stations:
    • Chico da Silva Central Station;
    • Military College Station;
    • Nunes Valente Station;
    • Papicu Station;
  • Execution of underground work to connect lines (LGT), with and without a shaft, including:
    • Plaza de la Estación shaft;
    • March 25 shaft;
    • João Cordero shaft;
    • emergency exit at MP 102.74;
    • Luiza Távora VSE;
    • emergency exit at MP 103.36;
    • José Lourenço/Silvia Paulet shaft;
    • emergency exit at MP 103.72;
    • Visconde de Mauá shaft
    • Leonardo Mota VSE;
    • emergency exit at MP 105.2;
    • Monseñor Catón shaft;
    • LGT 1000.
  • Superstructure of the permanent track on ballast, direct attachment to support plates with a resilient layer with and without floating slab;
  • Execution of the Primary Substation to supply electricity, necessary for the complete operation of Phase 1 of the East Line and its associated rectification and auxiliary substations, systems and subsystems as described below and their respective main components:
  • Primary 69kV substation and 22kV medium-voltage network
    • Drive System
    • Automation of the power system
    • Auxiliary substations
    • Power-Energy System
  • Ventilation system for the tunnels and stations
  • Maintenance workshop and parking yard between the stations of Chico da Silva and Tirol-Moura Brasil.
