Padre Anchieta Multimodal Transport Hub, in Tenerife, Spain.
The Padre Anchieta transport hub is an intermodal station that links the following modes of transport: bus, private vehicles, tram, taxi, future northern trainline, bicycles and pedestrians.
This building was part of the Civil Works and Urbanization Project of Line 2 of La Cuesta – Tincer Tramway, Section 3, in Laguna, Tenerife.
The project, with a total built surface of 8,330 m2, was distributed in two parking platforms located on semi-basement floors (of which only one was built in the first phase), which were a direct consequence of the existing topography. The hub also includes a large bus parking platform and a service station building. A total of 570,000 kg of steel and 5,600 m3 of concrete were planned for the construction of the structure.
The station contains four levels :
- Semi-basement Floor -2, for private vehicles
- Semi-Basement Floor -1, for station employees
- Ground floor, to house the docks and the service building
- Mezzanine, for building services
The area of the building that contains the station services is based on the idea of a large dark volcanic stone that covers the dock space whilst its permeability allows natural light to filter through both inside the closed space (sale of tickets and waiting area) as in the outer space of the docks, through the construction of skylights.
In contrast to the solidity of the roof, the intermediate space located between the parking platform of the docks and the roof is intended to be as clear as possible, so that the user can stay in a protected area with visual control of the buses.
